When the master control is set to 1, “Thunder Birds are Go” for observing.
Under control setting 1, the dome will awaken from its daily sleep, commencing start up once the sun falls to -12 degrees to the horizon. The start procedure awakens all devices, and cools the camera to -30c over 30 minutes with a gentle cool down script to safely achieve set point temperature at the CCD.
Weather control monitors the weather, allowing dome opening only upon clear skies. Over the night the mini robot automatically selects targets for median target acquisition. Upon the approach of the next day, at astronomical dawn, the acquisition process is stopped, and the dome closed. All systems gently closed for the days hibernation.
